What is the minimum age for the swimming instructor course?

Trainees must be at least 16 years old.

How well do I need to swim?

You should be able to swim at least two strokes proficiently before you join.

What does the course include?

In-person theory, in-water pool training, practical teaching attachments and assessments. The exact modules depend on the option you choose.

How many practical sessions are there?

The course includes a minimum of 10 attachment sessions, where you practise teaching in real swim classes under guidance.

How much does the course cost?

Fees range from $900 for the in-house course with React Right to $2,500 for SSI Levels 1 and 2 with Adult, Babies and React Right. SSI Level 1 with React Right is $1,300.

When is the next intake?

The next theory sessions are on 10 Nov 2026, 8 Dec 2026 and 12 Jan 2027. Schedules are subject to availability.

Can I gain coaching experience after I certify?

Yes. Swim2u has a coaching pathway for certified trainees, with its own eligibility terms.
