Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Swimming Teachers Academy (“we”) handles personal data collected through SwimmingInstructorCourse.sg, in line with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA). It is the data protection policy referred to in the consent box on our enquiry and registration forms.

1. What we collect

• Enquiry and registration forms: name, email, contact number, address, gender, swimming competency (strokes you can swim), course prerequisites you have completed, chosen course and session dates, and any remarks you add.
• Newsletter sign-up: your email address.
• WhatsApp, phone and email: whatever you choose to tell us when you contact us.
• Course records: attendance, attachment and assessment records, and proof of any CPR & AED certification you submit to skip React Right.
• Website usage: our site uses Google Tag Manager and related analytics and site tools, which may set cookies and collect information such as pages visited and device type.

2. Why we use it

• To answer your enquiry and advise on a suitable course
• To process your registration and payment and send your course confirmation
• To schedule sessions, attachments and assessments, and contact you about changes
• To process certification – for SSI pathways, completion records are submitted to SSI so your certification can be issued
• If you ask for a coaching interview, to consider you for lesson assignments with the affiliated swim school
• To send course updates and teaching resources if you subscribed (you can unsubscribe at any time)
• To understand how the website is used and improve it

3. Who we share it with

Only as needed for the purposes above: our affiliated swim school (Swim2u) and trainers involved in your course; SSI for certification; our payment processor; and service providers who host the website, forms and email for us. We do not sell your personal data.

4. Payments

Online payments are processed by a third-party payment provider (Stripe). Card details are entered on the provider’s secure page and are not stored on our website.

5. How long we keep it

We keep personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purposes above, including your certification and any reimbursement arrangement, or as required for legal and business record-keeping. After that it is deleted or anonymised.

6. Your choices and rights

• Access and correction: ask us what personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
• Withdraw consent: tell us if you no longer want us to use your data for a purpose. If this affects a course in progress, we will explain what that means before acting.
• Marketing: unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any email, or ask us.

7. Contact for data protection matters

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our forms, tools or practices change. The review date below shows the current version.

Privacy questions

Why does the registration form ask for my gender and swimming strokes?

So we can plan pool sessions and attachments, and check that you meet the course prerequisites (at least two strokes for the core pathway).

Will you pass my number to other companies for marketing?

No. We share data only with the parties listed in section 3, for running your course and certification.

How do I get my data deleted?

Email us with the subject “Personal data request”. Some records, such as certification and payment records, may need to be kept for a period; we will tell you what we can delete.
